Computer Health - Contributing Factors

Some of the factors which contribute to the development of computer related health problems include:
  • Performing small, repetitive movements (e.g. keyboard entry) for long periods
  • Sustained muscle contraction (e.g. unhealthy mouse use).
  • Binge computing
  • Stress and tension.
  • Poor ergonomics (i.e. poor fit between the computer user and the work station).
  • Poor posture.
  • Lack of breaks.
  • Unrealistic work expectations.
  • Poor work environment.
